About Us
Seattle Art Workshop is a pop up style art-making workshop where guests are guided through small projects in different mediums, led by artist friends Gia and Laurel. We have been making paper art together since the early 2000s.
Gia Valente (they/them) is a paper artist, mixed media wizard, and rainbow enthusiast whose work opens new perspectives through the use of color and repetition. Their recent exhibitions include MoPOP, Gay City, TUFFEST, and Kremwerk. Laurel Newnham (she/her) is the owner/designer behind Which Witch Handmade, a gemstone jewelry label bringing together the physical beauty of the natural world with messages of self and community empowerment from the tarot.
Over the years, we have developed passion and experience regarding materials that we would love to share in small group art workshops. Some of our favorite mediums include: cardmaking and printing, collage, mixed media, paper flowers, paper sculpture, bunting/confetti, and bookmaking. We are inspired by the interaction between art and environment, and how paper can change the way we view a space.
